21st Century After-School Important Notice
Updated Post - July 23: We're pleased to share some positive news regarding our 21st Century Afterschool Programs! We've been notified that federal funding for 21st Century programs has been released. This is wonderful news for our school community and the continued support of enriching after-school activities for our students. At this time, we do not have specific details on the exact level of funding we will receive or when the funds will be made available to our district. We are actively working with the relevant agencies to gather this information as quickly as possible. However, based on this promising development, we are tentatively planning for our 21st Century Afterschool Programs to begin on Monday, August 18th, at all six of our elementary schools. WCMS will not have programming this year. Please note that this date and other programming details are tentative and subject to change based on the finalization of funding details, but we will continue to keep you informed.
Original Post - July 15: Due to a nationwide hold on federal funding for 21st Century Learning Centers (21st CCLC), White County schools unfortunately won't be able to offer after-school programs when the school year begins. We are currently uncertain if this funding will be released later in the school year. We recognize this creates difficulties for many families and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Please know we're closely monitoring the situation and will share updates as soon as we have them.

White County One of Only 100 Districts Nationwide to Outpace Pre-Pandemic Scores
The recently released Education Recovery Scorecard signified that White County Schools is one of only four districts in the State of Tennessee and among just 100 districts nationwide that have seen a full recovery in both reading and math and are outpacing pre-pandemic scores. This is a testamate to the hard work of our teachers, staff, and students. We are so proud! Way to go White County Schools!
All White County Schools Receive Top Marks on State Report Card
White County Schools is thrilled to announce that all schools in our district have received A's or B's on the 2023-24 Tennessee State Report Card! This is a huge accomplishment and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff. White County High School earned an A while all other schools earned a B letter grade.
According to the Tennessee Department of Education, these high letter grades indicate that a school is performing at or above expectations in several key areas, including:
•𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘼𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩: Students are meeting or exceeding grade-level standards on state assessments.
•𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙩𝙝: Students are making significant progress from year to year, especially showing growth for high needs students
•𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙧 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 (𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨 𝙊𝙣𝙡𝙮): Students are prepared for success after high school.
We're so proud of our schools and the positive impact they have on our community. Let's continue to support our schools and celebrate their success!
